Abstract
In weight-class sports, athletes often resort to rapid weight cutting before competitions in order to compete in a lighter weight category. This practice is widespread among kurash athletes as well. However, sudden weight loss can negatively affect the physiological condition of the body, performance capacity, and overall health of the athlete. The aim of this study is to analyze the methods of rapid weight cutting used by kurash athletes and to assess their impact on the body. The article examines the main methods of weight reduction, their physiological consequences, their influence on athletic performance, and potential health risks. The data obtained indicate that excessive and uncontrolled weight loss can lead to disturbances in water-electrolyte balance, decreased cardiovascular function, reduced muscle strength, and an increased risk of injuries.
